What Thorne Hall Remembers by Elise Marchant ~ An ARC Book Review
Hear me out. "What if....A House was one of the characters?" What if indeed. This book has hints of a Beauty and the Beast troupe but way more delicious. I love the simplicity of the story. You know what your getting but, do you?

The characters are well thought out with some great depth and range. I had an instant distaste Raine's fiancee. It wasn't because he was a bad character it was quite the opposite. Elise did quite the remarkable thing and captured what I would call the English Gentleman quite well in writing the figure. Just as must as I quickly felt sympathy for Raine's father and her care of him. What a great way to open a book. Elise did a wonderful job of connecting me emotionally to the characters.
The environment is so intuitive to the story line. There is just enough to engross in the narrative of the story. In some cases, what's happening around you is like magic. Yes in this case, think of this cursed house as an environment that becomes a character. I thought at first this was a case of magic, but no, this house feels and it feels for Raine. The house is just a richly described as any part of this story, its a tangible aspect of Elise's storytelling.
The flow and structure of What Thorn Hall Remembers is very well done. The reading is easy and yet, you are still driven to flip the page. Just one more paragraph. one more sentence. I am not a big fan of slow burn romance as they are never fulfilling, however slow burn and What Thorne Hall Remembers is not two terms to use together. It is pure romance but its done with a delicate flair that lands at a slower pace.
Definitely read this book if you are a fan of fairy-tales (without the Grimm) and with a romantic overcoat. It was a pleasure reading this book and one I will consider a re-read in the future.
PS You'll need to Google a few words from this book. There are a few 'olden' words in the writing that we don't use today. But Elise used them correctly and they fit with the story. So very well done and honestly once you understand the meaning, its easy to understand the context.

A copy of this ARC was gifted to be by the author for an honest and biased ARC book review.
