Daughter of Ash and Bone by S. Ramsey ~ An ARC Book Review

Daughter of Ash and Bone is one of those books that has whispers of.... I know this story. This story reminds me of the Highlander movie back in the 90s. But of course this book carries the Norse troop. Loki being what he is a chaos creator. and Alice the main bearer of -- well I'll let you read the book for details.

There was a lot of good in this book. It was easy to follow. The characters are developed enough to relate to them but still hold some mystery. Alice as a main character seems quite adept. I would have liked to see a bit more on the secondary lead Beckett. There was just not enough context about him to form a great relationship with the character.

The dream sequences in this book are well done. I mention this as its part of the main story line and it's easy to separate current day, past and dream. The author did well in navigating and segmenting the environment. The environment was rich enough that you can picture yourself in it.

There was some -- give me more moments. The romance, this is about as slow of a slow burn romance as you can get. This slow burn does not factor in the underlying want and need of the two mains. I think there were alot of missed opportunities with the romance in this book, that would take it to the next level.

I also wish there was a bit more play on the mystery in this book, exploring an inheritance, a mythic piece of jewellery, a lost relative. The currents were there but it just wasn't enough for this to bring out another star in the rating.

This is a great book for anyone that doesn't want to get tied down by in depth story arcs and just wants a good book to read with a cup of tea.

I received an ARC of Daughter of Ash and Bone by S. Ramsey through Booksprout, in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.
